The instructional unit has been tested as functional on IE6, Opera 8, and Firefox 1.04 for Windows XP, as well as on Safari 1.3 on OS 10.3 for the Mac.
The Tibetan characters in this lesson use the encoding of the Unicode Consortium . Therefore, you need to have a sufficient Unicode Tibetan font. You may also need to tweak your operating system or software in such a way to properly display the stacking ability of Tibetan letters. Please go to the THDL site to read up on the current steps necessary to make your computer ready for Unicode Tibetan. The module as been tested on a Mac OS 10.3 box with the Xenotype Tibetan Unicode font. Please consider purchasing this font (currently $49 USD) to help support further development of Tibetan font technology. The instructional unit also uses special characters in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), which also follow the Unicode standard. You may need to download a Unicode IPA font to properly see the linguistic transcription.
The audio media in this lesson uses MP3 format. Most modern computer systems can play these files just fine. You may be interested to know that some media players, such as Windows Media Player 9+, can play MP3's at a slower pace without changing the pitch.
